Christopher Columbus. We all know call him by his name. We all know the storyplot. We have been told about it countless times every school year. Learned and sung the rhyme; In fourteen hundred or so ninety-two, Columbus sailed the ocean green. However , as Americans, ought to we enjoy Columbus Time?

It is a debatable question in my opinion. I do believe that instructing young People in america on Christopher Columbus is essential. We should all know his account, and how Europeans found the Americas. Learning our background is important. We have to know how issues came about to how they are. I think we should recognize him for being the first European sailing over the ocean and discovering a complete continent nobody in the Western Hemisphere recognized of.

Providing him a vacation for the discovery? I say no . First off, Columbus was not the initial human to have the Americas. There is not any concrete proof of exactly who " discovered” the Americas. We know however , that when Columbus inadvertently stumbled upon this continent, there was inhabitants. The Arawak Indians. Secondly, Columbus was not a really nice man, if you question me. The Arawaks were very ample people and taught the Europeans many useful things. He had taken advantage of the Arawaks and ultimately enslaved hundreds. This eventually led to the death of countless, many innocent Indians. Thus my issue would be, why are we giving a holiday to a guy who had taken advantage and murdered many Indians in the " discovery” of the Americas? We really should not be. Columbus Day is a deceiving holiday for any couple causes. Number one Columbus wasn't the first individual to discover the Unites states, but we are going to told he was. Number two, he murdered innocent people. From the tender I was at age five, half a dozen, seven etc . thinking, " Oh, amazing! Columbus was your FIRST to find America, exactly what a university great man! ” Just later to master the true account of Columbus. Therefore , my own belief is the fact we should identify him if you are one of the first Europeans for finding the Americas, teach...
