WORLD WAR II: The Decision to Drop the Atom Bomb
Around the morning of July 16th, 1945 the first successful detonation associated with an atomic bomb was recorded at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The explosion through the blast produced more power than twenty thousands of tons of TNT and could be seen at a distance higher than two hundred mls away. (Atomic Bomb-Truman Press Release) Afterwards that month President Truman met with various other Allied commanders in Potsdam, Germany to negotiate terms that would put an end to the Second Globe War. Throughout the conference, the Allies announced that The japanese must unconditionally surrender and they released the " Potsdam DeclarationвЂќ which usually threatened The japanese with " prompt and utter destructionвЂќ if it did not do so. (The Potsdam Seminar, 1945) Japan rejected the declaration which in turn led Truman to allow the use of atomic weapons. For the morning of August 6th, 1945 the a-bomb nicknamed Littleboy was dropped on Hiroshima. Seventy thousand lives were shed in a blinding the vision flash of sunshine and high temperature. Japan still would not give up. A few days and nights later on Aug 9th, 1945 the second blast, Fat Man, was decreased on Nagasaki killing more than twenty thousands of instantly. Twenty thousand more would expire in the subsequent weeks due to radiation coverage. (Atomic Bomb-Truman Press Release) One of the most contested topics in military background today is usually former Leader Harry Truman's decision shed atomic bombs on two cities in Japan in order to end a good and costly war. Harry Truman used our nation on 04 12th 1945, during probably the most tumultuous times in Usa history and zero decision he could have produced would have recently been popular among our allies, citizens, and our soldiers. Truman also arrived to office throughout the time which the atomic explosive device was made, which at the time was simply a more efficient method to explosive device cities and folks. Not much was known about the capabilities and implications of the system. Even though the new world of the weapon remained in most cases a secret, some might say that the atomic bombs was the only way to end one of the deadliest wars the usa had have you ever been involved in. Nevertheless , others could say that the dropping of the atomic explosive device was a gross misuse of power to attain the personal end point out of Harry Truman, and was not essential. This conventional paper will prove that the atomic bomb was not needed to end the conflict. Asia is a great Island nation not capable of self-sustainment whose navy blue during World War II was the spine of their armed service power and protector of trade tracks. The Japanese had been defeated the moment United States military forces advanced past Iwo Jima and Okinawa, these people were just as well proud to admit it.
