In " Facing Lower income with a Rich Women's Habits, ” (Kim, 2004) the author, Suki Kim, publishes articles about the struggles the girl faced as an impoverished, South Korean, immigrant teen in the 1980's. Suddenly Kim's world is usually turned upside down and she must discover a way to survive within a foreign area. She produces emotionally regarding trying to find a location to fit within other young adults like herself while learning a new vocabulary and traditions.

The writer's purpose is usually to tell the storyplot of her difficult move from abundant to poor in a international country. She wrote her story by means of a memoir to reach other folks like her, immigrants beginning over in international countries, but also, to anyone who may possibly have ever felt by itself and lost in new surroundings. The girl used a reflective strengthen as she emotionally explained the experiences the girl went through.

Kim starts her account by showing readers about how exactly her lifestyle changed in the blink of an eye. Her rich family all of a sudden lost almost everything when her father dropped his businesses and, in order to avoid prison period, left all their beautiful real estate in To the south Korea, running to America with nothing at all. In school, she joined the English as a Second Language school, hoping to find comfort in a class filled with other children that were likewise just understanding how to speak English language. She quickly figured out that a lot of of her classmates originated in poverty and even though they were most on the same level now, they will looked at her differently mainly because she originated from money.
